Screenshot Text Editor · last updated 2026-08-11

Screenshot Text Editor collects no data. None of it ever leaves your browser.

What the extension does

Screenshot Text Editor lets you edit the text baked into a screenshot or image: it detects the text (OCR), lets you erase or replace it, and export the result. All of this — including the OCR — runs locally inside your browser. There is no backend, no server, and no account.

Data we collect

None. Specifically:

Permissions

clipboardRead — used only so you can paste a screenshot into the editor with Ctrl/⌘+V. Clipboard content is read at the moment you paste, used only to place that image on the canvas, and is never stored or transmitted.

The extension requests no host permissions and runs no remote code.

Local storage

The extension may store a small non-personal flag in your browser's local storage (for example, to remember that a “leave a review” prompt was already shown) so it does not repeat. This never leaves your device and contains no personal data.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this page with a new date.
